Pet Photography is for everyone

Several of my non-photographer friends have asked me for tips on photographing their own dogs. A few tips; Shoot in the early morning sun or late evening. Long shadows are the rule. Do not use food. It is very distracting to the dog. If you have a high energy dog, use a high shutter speed, or sports mode if your camera has one.
Get the dog as close to his/her natural state as possible. If your dog is real laid back, be patient and capture that. If you have an active dog, get the shot of running, chasing a ball.

Important things to keep in mind; lighting, shutter speed, and patience.
Remember; have fun, spend LOTS of time with your pet, and keep that camera ready, and you will get lots of great shots.
